Gear to Bring to the Range
Ear protection and eye protection. Eye protection needs to be ballistic lenses. Depending on the course you are attending we may be shooting steel. Occasionally, we get hit by a piece of copper jacket from the bullets hitting the target. Don't worry, this rarely has any greater risk of injury than a minor cut but this is why we require eye protection.
A holster that your weapon properly fits in and a sling for your rifle. If you do not have a holster please contact us to we can help plan accordingly.
Extra magazines and magazine holster on your belt. If you want to Rambo it up and wear some Navy Seal hand me down plate carrier that's fine, but we reserve the right to tease you for it.
Comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Ladies, keep those sweater puppies covered. We support your right to fight tan lines but when you're standing in a line with other shooters and hot brass is being launched into the air, the last thing you want is a gnarly burn scar on one of your girls. So high neck shirts or button ups please.
A ball cap or boogie style hat is recommended. Especially if you're prone to sunburn. This includes sunblock.
WATER. Cold water, hot water, anything but dehydrated water. BRING WATER. It's hot and dehydration will sneak up on your when you're having fun.
Tourniquet. We always close the day with a quick discussion of how to manage the M in the M.A.R.C.H. algorithm. Massive bleeding is the leading cause of death on the battle field and proper tourniquet placement is crucial. Bring what you will carry or you can practice with one of ours.
The LTC class requires 50 rounds of ammo.
We recommend 100 rounds for the basic course (Cutting Teeth) and 250 rounds for the more advanced courses (Sharpened Claws). We will run you through the course of fire and afford you time to go back and remediate where you felt weekness. If you're picking things up quickly we're not going to beat a dead horse and waste ammo. We prefer to focus on the stubborn mules that refuses to do what they're told.
